Nicholas was born in Greenbow Alabama and had to wear leg braces as a child, probably because of polio, which made running nearly impossible. Getting accepted to school was also very challenging because of his relatively low I.Q. of 75. But Nicholas didn’t let these minor setbacks slow him down. He eventually received a scholarship to play college football, which he did for five years. Later in life, Nicholas joined the Army, became an exceptional ping pong player, and even worked as a shrimp boat captain. When asked what he likes to do after work, his response was “I just feel like running.”
