Mounting Hardware

A solar mounting system provides a durable foundation for solar energy on RV roofs. Get ready to solar power your next adventure with our wide variety of mounting brackets, adapters, tilt bars, and more for any roof type.

Please note: When installing a solar array yourself, please make sure to follow our instructions to the T. Additionally, because your rig is an “earthquake on wheels” dealing with high winds, we advise you to re-tighten any T-knobs before traveling. You can also contact the AM Solar team for an easy installation solution.

Z-Bigfoot and Rocker Mount Sets: Mount Adapters, T-knobs, L-feet, Tape

Each of these kits contains all the hardware needed to attach a solar panel to a flat surface. The “Z” Bigfoot Mounts are fixed and the Rocker Mounts can have a tilt angle. When using Rocker Foot Mounts, be sure to select the size that matches the thickness of your solar panel frame. No solar panel installation done by AM Solar has ever flown off.

Mounting L-Feet with Tape

L-Feet are what attach to the roof and connect to the mount adapters on the Rocker Foot mount sets. L-Feet come in a variety of sizes to give flexibility in mount height. All L-Feet come with VHB tape already attached.

Tilt Bar Sets

Tilt bars work with the Rocker Foot mount sets to hold panels at a 45-degree angle. The 15.5″ sets should be used on panels with a short edge length of around 21″. The 19.5″ sets should be used on panels with a short edge length of around 26″. The tilting panels are manual, which means climbing on a roof. Panels must be returned to level before driving.

Sealant and Tape

VHB tape is used to hold down mount sets and combiner boxes. Sealant is used to protect the tape from the elements so it doesn’t degrade and lose adhesion over time. Dicor is self-leveling but not used as an adhesive. Teroson is harder to work with, but has additional bonding capabilities. One tube of sealant is sufficient for two panels and one combiner box. Installations larger than seven panels should use three tubes.
