We normally try to avoid routing cable through vents, but sometimes it makes sense.
Here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
- No roof penetration
- May present the shortest route for optimal system design/performance
Cons:
- Roof Box installation not designed for Vent creating PV wire exposure on the roof
- Exposure to the elements including heat from the burner
- Challenging to effectively secure the PV wire route that passes through the vent
- May present a longer route than is ideal for optimal system performance
- Aesthetically displeasing
